Canadian Auto Manufacturing Jobs Jump After Six-Year Slump
Industry Statistics demonstrate an employment upswing in Canada’s auto sector.15,000 new jobs were filled in the first half of 2011.
Statistics Canada and DesRosiers Automotive Consultants saw a 13.3% increase in Vehicle and parts manufacturer sector of the automotive industry in Canada.This is due to the rising North American demand for vehicles for the first half of the year.
Stats shows that Parts Producers made up the majority of the jobs filled with a 21.3% gain taking the total figures to 78,400.
Gerry Rodgers, President of the Automotive Parts Manufacturers’ Association, says that he doesn’t believe his sector to add many more additional positions in the latter half of 2011 but expects a steady increase in 2012.
In addition, the number of jobs at assembly plants showed an increase of 3% taking the number of jobs in that sector to 51,700 jobs in total.
